Shelley: Day 5 Small Plates Rule!
It's day five and I'm crushing it! At my weigh-in this morning I had lost 4.3 lbs so far! Calorie counting is the only way for me. It all comes down to math. Do more and eat less. . .that's my motto these days!
It helps that my friend Katie is also going to be joining. She's serious competition. When we did this just before I had the twins (I did not want another jumbo pregnancy, ironic, I know given I ended up pregnant with twins.) she beat me soundly with her steady determination.
I just got called to be the secretary in our Primary so I've been swamped which is why I haven't been blogging but I'll be back to nearly daily blogs this week. I'm not going to list each days intake as that would make for a very boring post but I will include yesterday since Saturday was something of a challenge.
We went to the temple (Yea for Mother-In-Laws who can handle watching twins and a three year old!). Since we went to the temple, it made eating a little trickier. Fortunately, there was a sandwich shop with nutritional information online which saved my bacon as we needed to eat in the car on the drive home.
So here it is, my crazy Saturday out:
260 Cals Breakfast Sami and 2 oz of Grapefruit Juice
400 Cals 1/2 Turkey Sami with extra veggies (They kindly added cukes and other veggies for free which made my 1/2 sami A LOT more filling).
180 Cals Small Mushroom Soup (I should have opted for the Chicken Noodle which was under 100 cals but I have a hard time turning down mushrooms, so I settled for a smaller size and eating less later in the day.)
46 Cals 1 cup of Strawberries
52 Cals 25 Pretzel Sticks (I pre-measure these and stick them in my purse for emergencies so I'm not tempted by fast food or candy.)
127 Cals 1/2 Hamburger Patty, grilled (not a great use of calories but we needed to clean out the freezer)
66 Cals 1.5 Cups of Mushrooms, grilled (Just a very light spray of Pam to ensure they didn't stick to the grill)
93 Cals 2 Mandarin Oranges - Fresh
237 Cals 1 Bag of Smart Pop Popcorn (I had a serious case of the munchies)
It was a splurge kind of day so my intake was a bit high at 1,511 calories.
BMR CALC: 1821-(1,511+25 Cal for random snitching) = 285 Deficit (Not my best day but still under and having eaten out always feels good!)
I'm super motivated (I don't have any clothes that fit and am sick of wearing the same workout clothes) so next week should be just as strong. I'm not feeling tempted by much except maybe chocolate but I wouldn't be breathing if I wasn't;).
Keep working hard and update us on your progress! Even if you're just starting, join in! Nothing helps get the weight off like a little public accountability!
TODAY's TIP: Small Plates!!!! When I'm eating smart I only use small salad plates, or better, tea cup plates. They look super full and I can usually get seconds which makes me feel like I'm getting much more than I am. Also, on a small plate, even packed to the hilt, you can only do so much damages if you're eating healthy items.
