Shelley: Day 9 - Vinegar Not Oil
Today was kind of a funky day. I got in a great workout and burned over 1,100 calories. But my food was weird. I think I'm good, but I did a bit of estimating, some of the numbers are a bit high as a result (I like to assume I consumed more than I did, it makes for a fun surprise when I drop more weight!).
I got nabbed by the Costco samples (I have a weakness, OK). Fortunately, there weren't too many of them and two of them were icky frozen fish things no one should willingly consume. However, I did try to estimate that below.
The kids wanted me to make Pizza so I opted to make a WHOLE-LOTTA Veggies for me so I wouldn't be so tempted. I made sure the veggies were ready first to prevent starvation eating of the pizza. I did make myself a small slice (like, really small, 2" x 2" at most).
Also, I decided to take a photo today at the gym. I'm no Kim Kardashian, so I'm making a stupid face but I am on a roll and I really want to see what I look like in three months compared to this. In the interest of honesty. . .I'm posting the photo.

TODAY'S TIP: Oil Not Vinegar!!! This is a repeat for some of you but it's just such a good one. My friend Katie (yes, our Katie) were getting together for dinner one night and I made a monster kitchen-sink salad (we call it that because it has everything but the kitchen sink in it veggie wise). We both really wanted the salad but neither of us were dying to spend calories on salad dressing. We've tried a bunch of different low-fat one (thank you Paul Newman for the best ones out there) but ultimately decided we didn't want ANY oil. This is going to sound odd, but we used a packet of Italian dressing seasoning, vinegar and water in place of oil. It was good, like really good. So then I started using vinegar stand alone. My favorite to date is a raspberry balsamic that is not quite as acidic as straight balsamic. It's delicious and I can order it at any restaurant. I always just ask for straight vinegar on the side. You might get a few weird looks, but darned if it isn't a seriously easy way to cut calories. So next time you salad, give vinegar a try and leave the oil out! If you give this a try, tell us how it went and if you liked it!
Until Tomorrow!
